Student Retention Predictive Model

Dr. Van Duser’s research was highlighted in the Honolulu Star Advertiser in 2017 to stop the enrollment decline at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He built a prediction model for first-year student retention that was over 80% accurate in being able to correctly identify students who were going to depart. Findings lead to over one million dollars in scholarship funds being disbursed as a retention tool.
